The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, has established a program which is intended to educate Cub Scouts and Leaders in the preservation of natural spaces, with the goal of "keeping wild areas wild". That serves as the motivation for teaching Cub Scouts the importance of respecting the outdoors and developing a way of thinking that will last through their years of Scouting and well beyond.
